Earlier this year I asked myself what my favorite underground hip-hop album of 2026 would be. Whoever I name, somebody’s gonna say “that’s not underground.” For me it’s gotta have replay value, carve its own lane sonically, and actually hit on substance. Is it word soup, or does it have purpose? Does it tie together so the listener builds their own theory of what the artist was really saying?
No question. isocannabis, the rapper from North Little Rock, Arkansas (not the strain), takes it. Best underground hip-hop album of 2026.
isocannabis dropped The Good Ending and The Bad Ending, and I’m glad pages like Underground Rap Plug and Cow Rap Page picked them up, because it told me I ain’t crazy. The Good Ending is a classic. The Bad Ending is that darkplug underground sound for everybody who wants songs to play out loud that say “I’m not listening to what you listen to, and I don’t care if you like my stuff. This is what we’re on.”
