LASTDAYSOBER dropped a 5-track EP called Solivagant this month. The stagename does the work before a single bar drops, so I’m not gonna pretend this shit doesn’t excite me.
8 minute run time with exclusive production from Dario and etrnl. The beats sound like 2015 cloud rap and with the artist’s vision, I’m hearing Cash Carti early era with Ethereal. Lyrics live in the lifestyle. No redemption arc, no warning label. Just a dude with a mic, some pressed pills, and beats that feel like falling backwards into water.
[where we are]
Ten years back, Future made the lane. Lean, pills, dirty Sprite as gospel. A whole generation heard it and ran with it.
Juice ran the hardest. He wasn’t performing it, he was inside it. Told us in every song. We kept streaming. Peep wrote his own ending in his lyrics. Mac was swimming out, almost made it.
Then 2020-2021 fent becomes a nationwide problem. Over 100k deaths per year. Lyrics didn’t change but the outcomes did. The math went dark and the genre kept its eyes shut.
”Might just pop a bean and fuck up my sobriety.”
Solivagant drops in 2026. Post-Future. Post-Juice. Post-Peep. Post-Mac. Post-everybody we should still have. The music doesn’t acknowledge any of it. He’s not cautionary, not a martyr, not asking for anything. Just making cloud rap the way it’s always been made. Listeners are the ones holding the context now.
[the project]
Dario and etrnl carry it. “druggn & thuggin’” by etrnl is the standout. The kind of beat that catches you slipping. “judy” is the love-stoned haze. “out da way” is the paranoia spiral. The rest are vibes more than verses.
This kind of music is solivagant by design. Solo wanderer. That’s the whole posture, alone with the high, talking to nobody but the production. Title fits.
Covering it because it’s part of the moment. Not endorsing, not warning. Just here, telling you it exists.
Press play with your eyes open.
